R1-02 Sprint 8 Lean Canvas
Supports slide 6.
My Module 1 final assessment (Sprint 8, dated 18 Jun 2025) was a Lean Canvas for AssuredBook.com, Jody’s book. It’s the first of the four hunches on slide 6, written before STIGViewer came to us.
The hunch, as I wrote it
“Women in business can be deeply affected by self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and toxic workplace dynamics, which significantly hinder their confidence and professional growth. She believes these profound, emotional struggles are inadequately addressed by conventional leadership resources.”
The objective: sell the book, then the newsletter and community, then the services Jody had planned. I called it “pyramid publishing”: books at the base, courses and speaking at the top.
The riskiest assumption
The canvas says it plainly: “Before even thinking about putting time and money into the premium and high-touch offerings we needed to de-risk her assumptions about whether or not the entry-level content would sell.” That’s the assumption slide 6 names: the book is a funnel, not the product.
The segments
| Segment | Who | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Empowered Insiders | Beta readers who contribute stories | Beachhead. “And even then, they don’t pay the bills.” |
| Book purchasers | Women 25 to 55, urban US metros | Primary market. They pay the bills. |
| Service purchasers | HR and DEI leaders, companies of 10 to 500, $1,500 to $25,000 budgets | Courses and programmes |
What happened
Readers bought the book and praised it. Nobody enrolled in a class, and the income is Jody’s, not MoxyWolf’s (slide 7, R1-07).
