SCAMPER is the clearest case of a class method becoming an operating method. Taught one week, used the next day on a live problem, and in our plugin stack the same day.
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| Sprint 20 | SCAMPER taught (OneDay MBA) |
| 9 Sep 2026 | I hand-wrote and sent 8 follow-ups to named pricing-page visitors. Michael: “We really do need to get a handle on why people are not signing up for the paid subscriptions.” |
| 10 Sep 2026 | Sprint 20 micro-assessment: SCAMPER on the pricing-page non-conversion problem. 78 upgrade-CTA events, 2 paid-tier clicks from one visitor, 0 checkouts in eight days. 14 ideas across the seven lenses; three survived a three-question filter. |
| 10 Sep 2026 | Commit 094a676, “academic-pipeline 0.4.0: /scamper defixation command with novelty scoring”, then e5c8708 (0.4.1) the same day |
| 11 Sep 2026 | SCAMPER outline for the paper When Structure Pays (academic-pipeline stage 1.5) |
The three that survived
- A quote path beside the checkout. Kill if quote-path clicks don’t beat the two-click baseline within a week.
- A one-question email to the eight named visitors: “what were you trying to price?” Kill if nobody replies.
- Partner-led revenue through DTA. Kill if the 1 Oct go-live slips without a dated replacement.
The /scamper command ranks candidates by novelty, then stops and asks me to confirm the thesis: “the top novelty score is a proposal, not a decision.” That’s the Release Owner’s Gate in miniature.
