R7-03 Setback story

Supports slide 43.

A buyer said yes and I didn’t send the bill for nearly two weeks. This is the record.

Date What happened Source
17 to 18 Sep 2026 Hugh at Deura InfoSec agrees: $1,000 a year, full plan Gmail thread “STIGViewer pricing”
23 Sep I publish a deadline in my check-in: invoice Hugh by Friday 25 Sep Weekly check-in 23 Sep 2026
23 to 25 Sep Nightly log: Wed 0 of 3 blocks verified, Thu 0 of 3, Fri 2 of 3. Thursday’s quote and invoice block was displaced by a partner meeting and never rescheduled Weekly check-in 30 Sep 2026
25 Sep Deadline missed Weekly check-in 30 Sep 2026
30 Sep I write it up as my failure: “That’s twelve days of a verbal yes going cold.” Confidence down from 7.5 to 7 Weekly check-in 30 Sep 2026
1 Oct The fix: selling block first in the day, 8 AM, before email. The invoice leaves Weekly check-in 30 Sep 2026 (the rule); Capstone Facts Reconciled (the invoice)
Now Payment reported by me, record pending Capstone Facts Reconciled, 17 Oct 2026

What I wrote at the time

“The selling task is the one that loses every collision, because every other task has someone waiting on it and this one only has a buyer who’s too polite to chase me.”

“A business whose founder won’t send a $1,000 invoice to someone who already said yes is weaker than one whose founder does, whatever the other scores say.”

How this sale differs from the Stripe ones

Hugh is the first sale I closed myself. The two organisations paying through Stripe, Sullivan Environmental and Barricade Cyber, bought self-serve without me (see R2-05).

Not yet evidenced: Hugh’s payment. There’s no Stripe or bank record yet. The slide says “payment reported by the founder, record pending” until it lands. Not yet evidenced: the 1 Oct invoice email itself. It isn’t in my Gmail sent folder, so it probably went out through Stripe. The Stripe record goes into R2-05 when it’s pulled.
